Four years ago I was reminded how short life truly is when Jared called me to let me know that Jesse had passed away. Jesse was my age, had a young family, loved animals and was the kindest man you would ever meet. I will always remember when he came by to help me repair my car following a trivial spat with my dad; with his wife and young child in toe, he was there in a heartbeat and I was beyond thankful. Jesse, I still miss you and hope you are well and still smiling.
Tonight I made a decision to do something that I hope will ease my guilt over not being able to be of more help when Jesse needed it most. I plan to volunteer and support the San Francisco Suicide Prevention organization. Providing this kind of emotional support will allow me to help others and share the newfound appreciation for life that I have now that I moved here and this city feels like home.
God Bless. xo.
