I have to give credit to my baby sister whose idea to play Just Say It; a taboo like game on iPad turned tonight into one of the most
memorable family hosted parties in recent memory. We divided our family and friends by random draw and the objective of the game is to guess the word without using any of the key words. It would have been fun to have played this game in some of the other languages (app is available in English, German, Spanish, Greek, Traditional Chinese and Polish), but English proved to be entertaining enough.
This game brought out the fierce competitor in everyone. Audits were done to ensure that the opposing team did not use any of the bad words. Gestures were scrutinized heavily, there were debates over rules and regulations — basically the type of judging required to restore credibility in figure skating.
It was the most spirited fun I have had over the holidays in a long time and I hope it becomes a tradition. One of the games was so intense that a pillow caught fire during the game, and my sister urged us to complete the word and focus on the game and extending our lead. Our team ended up winning 62-29 and we will be playing again tomorrow. I know each of us will have read the thesaurus front to back before tomorrow’s Christmas Eve dinner. Merry Christmas!
