Federer prevails over Tsonga and wins record 6th Year-Ending Title!

Federer beats Tsonga 6-3, 6-7, 6-3 in the ATP Final. He will overtake Andy Murray and end the year at No. 3.

Roger Federer extends his perfect run following a heartbreaking run at the 2011 US Open to win his 6th ATP Barclays Tour Final over Frenchman Jo-Wilfred Tsonga. I had this post queued up during the 2nd set and the drama from the break of serve to bring the match to 5-all plus the tiebreak meant that I had to watch this one through if I wanted to time my post with the match outcome. I’m a huge fan of Roger’s and all he represents for tennis and spokesman. It’s great to see him move this well and play at this level after sustaining excellence for so many years. The year belonged to Novak Djokovic, but it was nice to see Roger come out on top in this one. He had to grit this one out against the Frenchman who played well, but it wasn’t his day.

Great way to finish the year! It will be a long 48 days until the start of the 2012 season!
